Discussions at MANTS leads to new GNN working group on data formats

Following discussions at the MANTS meeting, several people from the member GNN observatories have started a cross-collaboration effort to work toward unifying data formats used within the neutrino telescope communities. A first meeting was held in April 2024, to help define the scope of the effort. Initially, this group will focus on internal data formats to ease internal data exchange (for Machine Learning/AI activities, neutrino oscillation studies and neutrino astronomy analyses, where exchanging internal data, systematic error models, and instrument response functions matter most,  as well as external data products, like public data releases, and neutrino alerts, where making sure common information is presented uniformly to to wider scientific community to ensure they have a common understanding of any information reported.

Future calls will focus on detailed discussion in these areas. A mailing list has been established and advertised among the GNN groups for those interested in joining.  the subscribe email:  gnn-dataformats-wg+subscribe@googlegroups.com
